For the majority of my three years in Newspaper, I have always wrote about things that didn’t pertain to me, or the things that HAD to be covered for our issues. Now it is my time to shine and write about things that pertain to myself and my senior year. Whether my stories are about something amazing that happened to me that week, or my biggest pet peeves, from here on out, I only talk in #Hashtags.
#Senioritis
#Senioritis. Before my senior year, I really thought that it was just some made up thing that seniors said they had, that wasn’t even real. Even halfway through my senior year, I still believed that it was fake. It wasn’t until about the middle of the third nine-weeks, that I caught this horrible case of senioritis. It has taken a huge toll on my life, and is making it harder than ever to push through until the end of the year. Not only is this affecting me, but it is also affecting the majority of my senior class. There are many symptoms that can come with #Senioritis. It can slow you down mentally, physically, and even emotionally. It makes you not want to get out of bed, come to school, do your homework, or even talk to some people at school. It can cause students to stop participating in as many things, and even sleep a lot, so if you see these changes in any students, just know that it is not unusual. The only cure for this awful disease is graduation, which means that all of the people infected with it will have to deal with it for almost another month. Some advice for juniors, or any underclassmen who think that they won’t get #Senioritis, you will and there is no way to stop it. There’s no telling when you will catch it. It could be at the end of your junior year, or maybe even not until the end of your senior year, but I am telling you, it will catch up to you, and you will get it, so be prepared.
Here are some tips to help ease the pain and hardships of #Senioritis:
- Try to get enough sleep at night so that you don’t sleep through every single one of your classes
- When someone is annoying you to your breaking point, just think about the fact that you won’t ever have to see half of these people ever again, so that you don’t do or say something that you will regret
- Don’t do more than you have to, but don’t do nothing. You don’t want to wear yourself out too much, but you don’t want to fall behind either.
- DO ANY AND ALL EXTRA CREDIT THAT TEACHERS OFFER. I mean come on, we both know that you didn’t study for that test you have to take today. You’re going to need that extra credit.
- Wear comfy clothes to school. You’re already going to be exhausted and done with everything as it is, dress comfy to help ease the pain a little more. (Or dress super nice if that’s what helps you get up and going in the mornings)
I hope everyone takes this seriously. #Senioritis is not something to mess with. For the seniors who already have it, you can do it. You only have about a month left of school and then your #Senioritis is gone. For anyone who doesn’t have it yet, prepare yourself. It’s coming.
