1. Assigned Lunch Seating
As you may know, the lack of courteousness regarding the lunch trays has been a problem ever since the Mr. Sipes days. For whatever reason, some people seem to have forgotten that part of being in high school involves being responsible. That obligation doesn’t require too much, but it does involve keeping our school clean and respecting the simple things that are asked of you as a student.
For example, taking up all trash and lunch trays after eating. For some, however, this has proven to be a task that is beyond them and therefore has stirred the pot with some administrators. Yes, it is your right to be fed. Yes, eating lunch is not a privilege. However, taking advantage of the leniency that has been offered over the past few years is soon going to result in consequences. Mrs. Page recently announced the possibility of assigned seating at lunch. Even though the school is required to feed us every day, they are not required to let us sit wherever we want. That is a privilege and it is one that can be taken away just as quickly as it was given. So for the sake of everyone, PLEASE TAKE UP YOUR LUNCH TRAYS!
2. Tough loss to Providence
The Providence rivalry is without a doubt one of the best around. More people came out for that particular game than they do for almost any other. This past Friday was no exception to the annual tradition. Buerk Field was packed to the very top of the bleachers and even the track was stuffed with fans from both sides. Each year, a spectator can expect to see a heartfelt battle from each team and most likely an extremely close finish. This game did not disappoint. Although, the boys were unable to pull out a win this time, they held a tough Providence offense to only 21 points, which is an accomplishment in itself. Coach Fields and team are preparing for this week’s face-off against Castle on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The game starts at 5 p.m. Come up and support our Bulldogs!
3. First back-to-school dance in over four years
Prom is one of the most talked about events of every school year. Not only because of the preparation and anticipation behind it, but mainly because it is the only real “dance” NAHS sponsors for the students. Not to mention, most students have to wait anxiously until their junior year to attend. This Friday is the first time in over four years that all of NAHS will have the opportunity to attend a school dance. Now, I realize the reluctance of some to attend, but keep in mind that the DJ, Sounds Unlimited, is also featured at prom so it’s not just some thrown together “shindig” for those of us who can’t attend prom. The dance is sponsored by the PTO; admission is $5 and the event is from 7 -10 p.m. Be there or be square!
