Thing one and thing two
By Olivia and Maggie Keller
This Halloween, you may be looking for a fun duo idea. If you’re sisters and brothers, twins, or even a couple, the Thing 1 and Thing 2 costume might be the best thing for you! We went to target and found a Thing one costume for $54.99. So, we thought we would make it for less. These are the steps to making your very own Thing 1 and Thing 2 costumes:
1: A red shirt: Look in your closet and pick any kind of red long sleeve or T-Shirt. If you don’t have one, we found one at Target for $10.
2: Red Jeans: If you have red jeans in your closet then you don’t need these! If not, you can buy some of these high risk red pants for only $15.88 at Wal-Mart. The good thing is, you can always wear them again because you’re not going to be messing with them.
3: The all-important Blue hair: Unless you have blue hair, you will need to purchase some temporary blue hair dye. We found a 3.5 Oz bottle of Cryptic Blue hair dye for $6.99 at Party City. This hair really defines the whole Thing 1, Thing 2 costume.
4: Felt and sharpies: People need to know that you and your partner are going as Thing 1 and Thing 2, so the final step is to get white felt( which you can buy at any local craft store) and cut a circle out of it. Then you get a Sharpie and simply write Thing 1 or Thing 2 on it with your best handwriting. Your partner will need to write the opposite on their circle of felt. Then take the felt and hot glue it onto you red shirt so that it is in the center.
5: Shoes: You can wear whatever shoes you like but the best color would be some sort of red.
Once you have done all these steps, you and your other “Thing” should be ready to go for Trick or Treating or a fun Halloween party!
