The holiday season draws near and many people start listening to Christmas music; whether it’s a classic or a contemporary style of music most everyone finds delight in it.

According to Billboard, here are the top 10 most played holiday songs.

 

10. “Last Christmas” by Wham! (1986)

During the 1980s Wham! and the lead singer George Michael became famous. Wham! released the single “I’m Your Man” which was ranked number one in the UK and became popular in the United States. They are known for the song “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” and George Michael for “Careless Whisperer”.

In 1982 Wham! released their holiday single, “Last Christmas”.  Now, it is marked tenth for most popular. More than 100 covers of the song have been created according to Spotify.

 

9. “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby (1942)

In 1942 famous jazz singer and actor, Bing Crosby sang “White Christmas”. Bing Crosby was famous for many other Christmas. This song was featured in a Christmas classic also known as “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin in 1954. Bing Crosby played Bob Wallace. He starred alongside Danny Kaye as Phil Davis, Rosemary Clooney as Betty Haynes, and Vera-Ellen as Judy Haynes.

“White Christmas” has sold more than 50 million singles according to Guinness World Record. Many other famous people have their own rendition of this classic such as Michael Bublé and even Elvis Presley.

8. “Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra (1996)

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra released their debut album known as “Christmas Eve and Other Stories” with this song included in it. “Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)” is a contemporary medley of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “Carol of the Bells”. They are also known for “Canon in D Major” by Pachel Bell.

It is also featured in The Office Season 7, Episode 10.

Andy Williams released “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” in 1963. It currently holds number four on the Holiday 100 song on Billboard. Many other famous people have their own cover of this song.

 

6. “A Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives

Burl Ives was a famous actor and singer in the 1940s. In 1964 “A Holly Jolly Christmas” was featured in the classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer while Burl Ives played Sam the Snowman.

Many famous groups and people like Lady A have featured this song in their Christmas album. It has become one of the most covered Christmas songs in country music.

5. “Feliz Navidad” by José Feliciano

“Feliz Navidad” is a Spanish and English song that was released in the 1970s. José Feliciano explains that he didn’t want it to only be in Spanish since English stations would not play it. Now, the song is featured in movies and covered by other artists.

On November 19, 2020, the song turned 50 years old.

“Jingle Bell Rock” is a country Christmas song released in 1956 two days before Christmas, making number six on the charts.  The song features guitarist Hank Garland.

In 1958, Brenda Lee released “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” which was released again in 2014 making the charts. In 1958, Brenda Lee was only 13 years old. She is known for rock and roll and pop.

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” was released in 1994. She is also known for the songs “Always Be My Baby” and “We Belong Together”. She even has her own versions of other songs such “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner.

Many other artists like Tori Kelly have their own covers of this song. It is so popular that it re-enters BillBoard Top 100 every year.
