Many Southern Indiana residents seem to think that to find a great resteraunt they have to cross the bridge to Louisville, but little do they know, downtown New Albany is right under their noses.

Breakfast: Toast On Market has been opened in downtown New Albany for the past couple years offering a great variety of breakfast and lunch menus. Toast has become a very popular breakfast spot, being well known for the fanciful French toast that they offer their customers, appearing on many go-to websites for Kentuckiana residents.
“I love the French toast they serve,” Sophomore Shannon Donoho said, “They are all so good, I love to try a different every time I go.” Toast gives allows you to feel very casual yet sophisticated meal with art hanging on the walls around you.
Lunch: DP Updogs has been located on the corner of East Market and Bank street for quite awhile now, being formerly being known for many different names. Not until 2012 did it take on the name DP Updogs. Since its recent opening, Updogs have been best known for it’s hotdogs and ice cream, a perfect spot to stop in while out on the town.
“I’ve stopped by there a couple times while passing through downtown New Albany,” sophomore Diana Bell said. “Its great to get an ice cream there as a quick snack.”
While Updogs maybe be occasionally overlooked because of its appearance, it is worth giving it a shot and grabbing a quick bite to eat.
Dinner: In 2012, a new restaurant opened on West Main Street, Feast BBQ. Feast has been quickly recognized for its well-liked BBQ, bourbon, and beer. Not only is the food great, but the atmosphere the building serves for it’s customers is very welcoming. With mason jars hanging from the ceiling giving off a cool, relaxed lighting, customers sit back and anxiously wait for their food.
“Feast BBQ is so great, sophomore Jenna Getrost said. “I just recently heard of it and I’ve already been there multiple times. It has a really good atmosphere and it makes you feel like you are at a really nice restaurant, while they serve you quickly and the food platters are very casual.”
Desert: Although not open yet, East Spring Street is where the Comfy Cow ice cream shop will be located this upcoming summer. The Comfy Cow will offer its customers great ice cream and delicious pastries.
“The Comfy Cow is a really cool, relaxed spot that serves great ice cream,” Senior Miranda Duffy said. “I am excited for one to open in downtown.”
The interior is decorated to make customers feel at home, welcomed, and comfortable (hints the name).
Downtown New Albany seems to be redeveloping right before our eyes and if you are looking for a place to enjoy a great meal you don’t have to go far. This small town is slowly but surely becoming more modern, offering its citizens great eating locations.
