For the majority of my three years in newspaper, I have always written about things that didn’t pertain to me, or the things that HAD to be covered for our issues. Now it is my time to shine and write about things that pertain to myself and my senior year. Whether my stories are about something amazing that happened to me that week, or my biggest pet peeves, from here on out, I only talk in #Hashtags.
#TheLastTime
As we are drawing near the end of the third nine weeks, I have realized that I am slowly but surely reaching many of my “Last Times”. With this, I am not really sure how to feel. I am somewhat happy I am growing up and moving on with my life, but I am also not ready to leave many parts of it behind. I know that it is going to be hard, but it is essential, and I am glad that I don’t have to go through it alone. So here is to the Class of 2017 moving on, and all of our #LastTimes.
Last Friday was my last night ever performing at a NA boys basketball game as a Bulldoll, and it was also my senior night. Beforehand, I knew that it was going to be one of my last “hoorahs” as a senior, I didn’t know how hard it would actually be. I walked into the auxiliary gym to get ready for our halftime performance and saw our parents setting up stuff for our senior night. There were huge posters for each senior filled with tons of dance pictures from throughout each of our lives, and there were also boxes filled with notes from each teammate. This is the moment that it really hit me that this was my #LastTime. My last time performing for NAHS, and the last time performing at a game with all of my best friends. It made me realize how fast everything this school year has gone by. Although I still have two competitions left with my team (so it’s not really my last performance as a Bulldoll), this was a wake up call for me. It made me realize that I need to appreciate that times that I do have, while I have them. Everything has come so fast senior year. From my #LastTime going to a NA football game, to planning my last prom, I am speeding through many of my last times without even knowing it. There are so many things that we rush, and try to get over with as fast as we can, but we don’t understand how much we are truly going to miss all of these things. Soon most of us seniors and our friends will be going off to college, or going to do bigger and better things. We will all be so busy doing things for college and becoming adults, that we won’t always have the time to enjoy and do the things that we do now. Even if the vast majority of us are more than ready to get out of high school, we need to stop taking the time we do have for granted, and enjoy it instead. So my advice to all of us is to just slow down, and enjoy all of the #LastTimes that are approaching us with the end of senior year. Here’s to us and our future class of 2017.
If I were to give any advice to the class of 2018, or to anyone before your senior year, it would be to enjoy and cherish every moment of your senior year that you can. Make sure you attend every school event that you can before you don’t have the chance to. It will all go by way faster than you think.
