To burger or to not

Which burger joint is the best in the business?

To burger or to not

Jack Moutardier, Reporter

From the melt of the cheese to the succulent moist texture of a fresh hamburger, the crunch of bacon, and the juiciness of a tomato, everyone is fond of cheeseburgers. Whether it be as a result of taste, nostalgia, setting, etc, many are willing to stop at no cost to argue which burger really is the king.

“I’m a Midwesterner! Not being able to have a cheeseburger once in a while would be complete torture!” Actress Jessica Capshaw said.

Whether it be from McDonald’s to Freddy’s, everyone loves cheeseburgers!

But what doctors a great cheeseburger is always into question. From the cheese to the single or double burger patty, what makes the burger so stupendous varies from every restaurant.

To conclude what is the best patty I’ll have various grading factors: taste, restaurant experience, cost, calories, ingredients used, and size. By way of these six components, I’ll really decide what the most supreme burger is.

McDonalds: When you think of fast food burgers, McDonalds is always one of the first to come to mind. With McDonalds, they have a diverse range of burgers. From the Quarter Pounder and Big Mac to the classic cheeseburger, these dishes have brought McDonalds to the promised land. But why? Upon my visit to the golden arches, I have nothing but negativity to say about the classic cheeseburger in terms of taste. I would love to give a rating on the taste of the cheese, bread, and patty, but all there was to taste was the mustard. When I unwrapped the burger, my hands were immediately covered in mustard. With all my appetite gone I bit down into the burger and immediately felt disappointed and had no appetite. On the upside, the workers at McDonalds were very kind, but the food side fell short.

McDonalds – Overall – 4

Wendy’s: From the taste of the juicy and moist patty to the mouth-watering iceberg lettuce exfoliating

all bad taste buds from the roof of the mouth. A rating lower than 9/10 would be nothing less than utterly disrespectful. Then, Wendy’s didn’t fall short to deliver tip-top, high-quality, friendly, service. Every worker at Wendy’s made it their personal goal to treat everyone with gratifying service. Growing up Wendy’s has always felt like grandma’s kitchen and almost makes you feel like Wendy is cooking it herself. Then to the dining room, the tables are so clean you would’ve thought Mr. Clean had been in there himself using his magic eraser.

Freddy’s: Many people haven’t had the joy of going to Freddy’s and that alone is very sad. Over the last few years, Freddy’s has expanded and now made its way to Louisville. In my lifetime I have never had a better burger consistently than Freddy’s, then, the fries along with the sandwich make for a life-changing experience. Freddy’s, similar to Five Guys, is a quick-sit restaurant. However, it is worth the wait. At Freddy’s, I got the ‘Bacon and Cheese Double Patty Burger.’ Words can’t describe the taste. From the cheese melting to the mouth and the juicy double steak patty filling your mouth with taste, and the bacon tasting so greasy and good, it is a great burger.

Taste- 10/10

Service- 8/10

Wait Time-7/10

Calories-701 ( Double Bacon Cheese Steakburger) 10/10 (Worth every calorie)

Cost-  $8.39- 8/10 (Not bad at all for the quality of it)

Ingredients- Bacon, Cheese, Patty, Bread. 10/10

Freddy’s – Overall – 8.8

Five Guys: When it comes to a soft bun, crunchy bacon, and melting cheese, it’s hard to do better than Five Guys. Overall, the little burger was very solid and had a great taste profile, with a lot of great qualities.

Taste-9/10 ( Very good and loaded with flavor)

Service-9/10 (Very nice, great people all around.)

                             Five Guys Burger

Wait Time- 7/10 ( It took around 7 minutes, which is overall not too bad.)

Calories-5/10 (620 calories) ( Pretty decent for how much food there is.)

Cost -7/10 ($7.49 ) (Not too bad for the quality of the little bacon cheeseburger.)

Ingredients-8/10  (Very good all blended together.)

Five Guys – Overall – 7.5

Burger King: When it comes to famous burgers, few if many are bigger than the ‘Whopper’. From the signature patty and cheese to the juicy tomatoes and creamy mayo, the ‘Whopper’ is a fan favorite and restaurant standout. However, I would say the burger is right down the middle solid. There isn’t enough flavor for me to say it’s the best, but it’s for sure better than some.

Taste- 5/10 (Very solid but nothing special)

Service- 7/10 (Could be better, but everyone was nice)

Wait Time-8/10 (Pretty quick, and overall not bad)

Calories- 3/10 (677 calories) (In my opinion it is definitely not worth all the calories)

Cost- 5/10 ($4.19) (Very cheap for the size of the burger, not bad, but I’d rather get other foods for that price)

Ingredients- 5/10 (Patty, Cheese, Bread, Tomato, Lettuce, Mayo, Pickle) A lot on one burger and sometimes it causes it to be at a weird temperature, where it’s not very hot, but then the lettuce, tomato, mayo and pickle, be almost medium temp and soggy)

Burger King – Overall – 5.6

Overall, the quality and ingredients of Freddy’s burger edges out the victory with Wendy’s in second.
