After multiple meetings from May until now, and with the help of sponsor Ms. Emily Carson, Student Council has announced they will host a homecoming dance September 23 for the first time in decades.
“We had multiple meetings with Dr. Ginkins and included other members of Student Council to speed up the process,” senior Student Council President Abigail Holder said.
High schools across the nation have had homecoming dances for years.
“This year, Student Council has been working with PTO to help improve school spirit and create more fun events for NAHS students,” junior class president Ellie Dablow said.
The club will be using funds from previous years, as well as fundraise during this school year to make these events possible.
“We are funding it with the money we had previously and the fundraising we’re doing,” sophomore Taylor Fessel said.
Since the dance has been in the works now for months, Student Council is hoping to continue the tradition. NAHS students of all grades are invited to the dance.
“As long as I’m here, I will make sure the homecoming dance continues, we need to make this fun,” sophomore Serenity Huguley said.
“We are hoping that it continues and gets better over the years; we are hoping that this one will be a great success and people will want another one,” Fessel said.
“I think Student Council will continue the homecoming dance, many schools have a homecoming dance as a tradition and I think a dance is a fun thing we can add to our homecoming week,” Dablow said.
Tickets will go on sale a few weeks before the disco-themed dance. Pre-sale tickets will be $15, students who purchase at the door will be charged $20.
“I personally think people will like the social aspect of the dance the most,” Holder said.
” I think students will enjoy the dance, it’s all grade levels and won’t be as formal as prom, it’ll be more relaxed and a fun night,” Dablow said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how many people will show up, it’s nice to have homecoming considering we haven’t had one in so long,” Huguley said.
“I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out and how people are going to like it, knowing that we haven’t had on in years makes me think people will look forward to it or will have interest in it,” Fessel said.
“I’m looking forward to hanging out with friends, dressing up and going out to eat before,” Dablow said.
“I personally am looking forward to going to the dance with my friends and enjoying the first homecoming in almost 30 years,” Holder said.
More information about ticket sales will be available on the announcements next month.
