College football is back. Here are my Top 10 teams coming into this 2023 season:
1. Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia looks to go back to back-to-back this year but with a depleted roster, the Bulldogs are looking at a potential upset against Alabama possibly. The standard is still very high for the SEC school, so number 1 is still very likely.
2. Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State has been great for a long time and this year is no exception. Projected first-round pick, Marvin Harrison Jr., will look to carry this team on his back this year. If they get a win over Michigan, there will be no doubt about who the best Big 10 school will be.
3. Michigan Wolverines
A typical Michigan season would consist of an undefeated regular season with the exception of a good Big 10 team like Penn State or Ohio State. Most likely they will end up in the top five, and if they win against Ohio State, there’s no doubt about it.
4. Oklahoma Sooners
As of recently, the Sooners have been on fire. The program is on the rise in preparation for the upcoming SEC move. Oklahoma has been landing lots of high-profile recruits like 5 Star David Stone. Head Coach Brent Venables started his tenure with a below .500 record but the pieces are starting to fall together. While a top five ranking isn’t necessarily guaranteed, a few good wins over the top Big 12 teams will certainly put them up there.
5. Kansas State Wildcats
One of the best Big 12 teams and very underrated, Kansas State will look to make another hard run for the college football playoff. It’s really all about winning against the top four Big 12 teams, and while it is possible, it’ll still take a miracle to happen.
6. Florida State Seminoles
After their week one win over LSU, there seems to finally be an ambition for Florida State. The Noles know how to get it done and get it done right. And Jordan Travis looks like a Heisman character out on the field. There will still be some tough matchups against Louisville, Clemson, and Duke, but things are looking up for the ACC school.
7. Alabama Crimson Tide
Head Coach Nick Saban will push for his team to be top four this year, and while it is totally possible, the Crimson Tide will face challenges this year against Texas and other SEC schools. Hopefully, this team can be the powerhouse they usually are, but a couple of big losses are definitely in the mix this season.
8. Clemson Tigers
While the loss to Duke in Clemson’s first game sucks for their playoff potential, I think it actually helps them. They know what they need to do to be the historic program they are and I hope this wakes them up for their upcoming games.
9. Oregon
Oregon arguably has the best offense on this list and Bo Nix is sure to carry this team far. A top four or five spot is unlikely as they could definitely lose to USC or Washington, but anything could happen in the last year of the PAC-12.
10. Utah Utes
Another PAC-12 team making the top 10 is no surprise. Hopefully, they can continue their streak against USC and pull off another victory but even with a loss to USC, this Utah team has some surefire potential to upset against Washington or potentially Colorado or Oregon, putting them last in my top 10 teams coming into the year.
