The large majority of people can agree their bed is the best place to be, which is exactly why going to the theaters to watch a movie is overrated.
Watching movies from your own bed, or home in general, is a lot better than going out of your way to travel to the movie theaters. There are so many things you’re able to do at your house, FOR FREE, that you aren’t at the theater.
One of the things that make the home experience better is a broader selection of food. At the movie theaters, you’re provided with a very repetitive selection consisting of different types of candy, popcorn, along with the sodas they provide that are more overpriced than American healthcare. Another option is sneaking in food, but very rarely is it possible to sneak in things like cheeseburgers and chicken wings.
At home, you don’t have to worry about any of this. It’s your house, you get to cook, eat, and drink whatever you want. No one’s there to judge you, so you can be as messy as you want. You have napkins, you have washers and dryers to clean messy clothes, and the best part is, you can be comfortable.
Some movie theaters are comfortable and I do miss going to Regal theaters and having reclining seats to rest in and even fall asleep in during movies I found boring. However, reclining seats aren’t beds or couches, depending on a person’s preference. I would much rather stay home, in my bed, and stream a movie comfortably than I would going to a theater where it’s less comfortable, sometimes dirty, and ALWAYS cold.
There are a few upsides to movie theaters, though. Oftentimes, there is at least a 45 day window between the release of the movie in theaters and the date they begin to stream on other platforms. Sometimes the anticipation to see a movie is too much to wait to be able to watch it at home. Another upside is the experience of going to the theater. Going to the theater brings a feeling and experience that you can’t get at home. Being able to see other people’s reactions and comparing them to your own is fun.
Regardless home is always the better option. There are plenty of things you can do at home that you wouldn’t be able to do at the theater and staying home is arguably more comfortable anyway. You’re not spending extra money to go buy a ticket or overpriced candy and popcorn, and you can eat whatever you want Judgment and hassle free.
