While most teenagers might be looking forward to the weekend when they get to sleep in and stay home in their pajamas, Kadriannah Seckman is preparing for another day of work.
“I would say that I am usually pretty productive, I try to get my [school] work done on time,” Seckman said. “In general, I try to get my work done ahead of time and make sure I don’t fall behind.”
The sophomore works 15-20 hours a week at the Green Tree Mall. She’s also a board member of the Anchor Club here at NAHS.
“Usually I try to figure out what [school] work I have and then try to plan when to do it, and how much time it should take to do each assignment,” Seckman said. “I try to fit in social time and rest in between.”
Whether she’s attending an Anchor Club meeting after school, volunteering at service hours, working, or studying, Seckman is always keeping busy and staying on top of things.
“If you’re not struggling, it’s your job to help people,” Seckman said. “Everybody should help each other.”
Seckman is always helping her peers. She can often be found assisting someone with homework or helping them grasp a math subject. In between all of these activities though, Seckman acknowledges how important it is to get some downtime too.
“Sleep is very important, you can do more when you actually sleep,” Seckman said. “Good sleep is underrated, most people don’t see how vital it really is. It’s the ultimate way to rest.”
When she isn’t busy, Seckman is reading, learning new tricks, or playing with her cat, Twinkee. Most of all, though, she enjoys spending time with friends.
“My priorities, I like hanging out with my friends,” Seckman said. “I keep my grades up since that’s a big priority of mine, but seeing friends is also important to me.”
Seckman is always seeking out opportunities. She thinks education, determination, and perseverance are key to success. Being positive about aspects of life is one of Seckman’s many qualities.
“It’s like I’m climbing the staircase and trying not to fall too often but getting back up when I do,” Seckman said.
Seckman looks forward to working in the technology field in the future and traveling all over the world. She believes that while it’s important to work towards your future, you should be careful of how much you push yourself so as not to get overwhelmed.
