It’s here. The day where friends and families around the world are waking up, sitting together, while turning on the TV to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade. People from all over the U.S. tune in to watch this parade each and every year. So many others also fly to the Big Apple just to see it in action right in front of them.
This tradition and parade has officially been going on for 100 years. Each year more than 50 million people watch the iconic parade on TV and 3.5 million attend in-person. The parade route is 2.5 miles, starting from West 77th Street and Central Park West to Macy’s Herald Square.
Basic Information // This year’s parade will start at 8:30 am and end at 12:00 Pm EST on Thursday, November 28. The public viewing places are Central Park South and 6th Avenue, but live Broadcasting limits viewing between West 34th and 38th Streets, and on 34th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues. There will be floats, performers, marching bands, music, etc. Anyone can watch the parade live on NBC or Peacock.
Balloons // Every year kids are so excited to see their favorite characters such as SpongeBob, Minions and so many more. For the parade in 2024 we will be seeing some amazing & fan favorite returns. Some friends that will be returning consist of Ronald McDonald, Smokey the Bear, and everyone’s favorite, Pillsbury Doughboy. Macy’s will have new characters this year that kids are going to be really surprised to see. Those ones that are coming are Minnie Mouse, Elf on the Shelf, Gabby, Paw Patrol and so much more.
Performers // All the time people are speculating & talking about who they think should perform or sing at the parade. The singers always come through with their festive floats and in beautiful Christmas outfits. This year Jennifer Hudson will be performing, Coco Jones, T- Pain, Dan + Shay, Dasha, Charli D’amelio and Jimmy Fallon — you’ll have to watch it to find out the rest.
Performance Groups // The groups that dance and are in the parade each year are very special. Spirit of America Cheer, Spirit of America Dance Stars, Indigenous Enterprise, and the very well known Rockettes are great dance groups to watch on a cozy Thanksgiving morning.
There is so much to look forward to this year; this event brings a happy, festive, and wonderful feeling to this beautiful holiday. This parade is a long-time tradition for many generations of families. It is a great way to kick off the holidays and Christmas season.
