On February 20 Celsius bought Alani NU for $1.8 million, according to WLKY. This shocked Alani consumers all over the US and many feared their beloved energy drink would soon change.
The biggest concern is the fear that Celsius would change Alani’s original flavors and designs. Mixed feelings about this purchase have left many Americans angry and afraid.
“I was really mad because I don’t like Celsius, and I know they are going to mess up the formula,” sophomore Lily Kafer says.
Kaher says she consumes energy drinks regularly and particularly favors the brand Alani.
“My favorite flavor is the Caramel Apple or Winter Wonderland,” Kafer says.
The main difference between these two popular drinks is the taste; Alani is known to have better flavors while Celsius is considered to be healthier and cost less. But with the addition of Alani NU, these brands have come together to embrace potentially better energy drinks and help Celsius bring in more female consumers, according to Beverage Daily.
“The newer kinds definitely look different, I don’t think I like them, but as of right now they are tasting okay,” Kafer says.
The new flavor of Alani NU, Strawberry Sunrise, has received varying opinions, with some loving it and some absolutely hating it.
“I have tried the Strawberry Sunrise, but I don’t think I will drink it again,” Kafer says.
This unexpected purchase sent a shock wave across the nation. The new looks and tastes of the beloved Alani brand have pulled and pushed consumers away, leaving many people to wonder whether they will continue to buy the new and improved Alani brand.
“I will continue to drink Alani’s, but I prefer the originals,” Kafer says.
