Halloween is only happy if you’re looking scary, stylish or somewhat “sassy” in your costume. If one does a little research, they would be shocked to find out how easy and quick it can be to look great on Halloween without blowing all of their savings.
Halloween is just around the corner and in most homes, there is plenty to prepare. Decorating the porch, interior of the home, yard, car and also buying a variety of treats are important aspects of this fall holiday. However, finding the perfect costume is by far the most crucial part of Halloween.
“I spent one hundred dollars on a gorilla suit last year for Halloween, and I haven’t worn it since then,” junior Trevor Brown said about his wild costume.
Although a gorilla suit may be hard to re-create yourself, there are plenty of ways to make an all black costume with a scary monkey face. By the time September rolls around, finding a costume can be as easy as going to the grocery store with Mom or Dad and slipping off to the seasonal section of the store to browse through their selection. Shopping for a costume at any store comes with the expectation of spending at least fifty or more dollars on a cheaply made outfit that will most likely be worn once.
A smart alternative to spending an excessive amount of money on a costume is making one. Just about any superstore, such as Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart, or Meijer, offer all of the materials it takes to create a costume for about half of the price of one that is already made. Along with saving more money by making a costume, you’re able to use your own ideas and tastes to put together a one of a kind outfit.
Most costumes bought from a store include materials that might be around the house as well, such as a teacher costume or a ghost. A majority of teens have a pair of slacks and a button up shirt; all you need to complete the teacher outfit are a pair of shoes, glasses, a bow tie, and a couple of pens to slip into the chest pocket. A bed sheet and a pair of scissors to cut out eye and mouth holes make up a simple ghost costume. Making a homemade costume allows teens to use their own belongings or possibly borrow items from a friend to save even more money. So this Halloween season put your creativity to the test and save some money!
