Money isn’t burning a hole in the pockets of Starbucks buyers

Starbucks may wake many people up on early mornings, but if they added up all of the money they spent on brew in a year, they could build their own coffee shop.
There are 10,465,000 cups of coffee distributed between all of the Starbucks locations per day, according to ask.com. Those millions of people are wasting their money on overpriced coffee.
Prices for a cup of brewed coffee at the international chain are outrageously expensive; especially when one can go to a fast food restaurant or gas station and only spend a dollar on brew. Freshly brewed coffee from Starbucks can range anywhere from $1.65, all the way up to $5-6. For every cup of Starbucks sold, money is being spent that doesn’t even need to be taken out of a wallet.
In a poll of 50 students, 58 percent of NAHS students said that they rather have their brewed coffee from a fast food location than Starbucks.
“Starbucks is higher priced because any and everyone will pay because the drinks are so good,” sophomore Marrisia Ray said.
Unlike Starbucks, McDonalds does not have to promote their coffee drinks because they sell other menu items as well. At McDonalds, often employees will suggest that customers should get a brewed coffee beverage with their meal. Anybody would rather be convinced to get something cheap, not something that costs more than a McDonald’s breakfast meal alone.
There are more than 87,000 possible drink mixtures at Starbucks, according to Brandongaille.com. A brewed coffee drink can have many different flavors added to it, some costing more. The most expensive drink ever paid for at Starbucks was $71.35, according to Caffeineformer.com. That paid amount only happened once, but is a sum that should never be paid for, for a cup of coffee.
“Starbucks is higher priced since it has better quality, but I think that spending less is better,” sophomore Haylee Glotzbach said.
People all over the world spend a lot of hard-earned for money on coffee that can be purchased at a much cheaper price.
