Excitement, speculation run wild over the new Star Wars movie
In 1977, the first Star Wars movie, directed by George Lucas, debuted and took the science fiction world by storm. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is anticipated to do the same when it debuts.
“Anything can happen,” freshman Laura Thomas said. “So many things go on, and not many stories are told like in this way.”
Thomas has been a fan of Star Wars since she was five.
“Seeing Star Wars as a little kid just perpetuated my imagination, and I loved every second of it.”
The new Star Wars movie made some fans, like Thomas, hesitate with excitement and fear that the new movie will not live up to the original. However, after the trailer went up fans were put at ease.
“There are always going to be those Star Wars people that are irritated with anything that is not touched by George Lucas,” English teacher Mr. Nathan McGarvey said. “I can’t help but be only excited for the new movie. It’s going to be different.”
When Star Wars: The Force Awakens officially debuts on December 18 fans have already premeditated on what they expect to see. Others are not getting their hopes up over the movie.
“I’m very concerned,” Star Wars super-fan and English teacher Lorie Hollis said. “Star Wars is just not cutesy. Since Disney is the man, I’m afraid it will be cheesy and cutesy.”
Despite the speculation, those who love Star Wars didn’t think twice when buying a movie ticket.
