Is there really ever an appropriate time to stop believing in Santa Claus? There will always be a hint of innocence in us, no matter how old we become.
The older we get, the more wise and mature we become. The thought of Santa Claus being real may seem like a fleeting fantasy to most by the time middle school comes around, but there is nothing wrong with having a little fun. All people have that little kid inside of them that wishes that Santa Claus was real.
The idea of Santa Claus being real is ridiculous. Most of us lost faith in the idea of a jolly old man flying a reindeer-powered sleigh and delivering presents to the huge amount of children in one night years ago. Just because the idea is preposterous, doesn’t mean it is to be entirely abandoned. It is the wonder and mysterious nature surrounding fantasies that make them fun and enjoyable. There probably is not a Bigfoot roaming the American wilderness, but this does not stop investigators from hunting him down to the end of the earth.
It is appropriate for all people, no matter their age, to be a little childlike during the holidays. It is true that years of life experiences may lead one to realize that Santa Claus does not, in fact, exist. This doesn’t mean you have to give up on the excitement you had as a child waking up on Christmas day.
Live like a free spirit. Age is just a number. It does not limit your imagination. Don’t be confined by reality; keep that sense of imagination alive. Lay in bed all night wondering if you are on Santa’s nice list this year. Sure, it does not really matter in the end, but don’t spoil life’s simple pleasures.
