After gracing the halls as a student at NAHS and then returning as a secretary for 25 years, former secretary Mrs. Linda Bonfier has officially retired from the school to help out her brother, the newly elected mayor of New Albany, Jeff Gahan.
Throughout the years and everything she’s seen, Bonifer said that now, nothing strikes her as unusual.
“I have seen it all,” she said. “It’s not strange when you’ve seen it so much. I like it though, it keeps me current, up-to-date.”
While Bonifer absolutely loves the students and people that she works with, there is one downside, she says.
“With school starting so early, I can never get to the gym,” Bonifer said. “Now I can go to the gym in the morning, or really, whenever I want to.”
She said, however, that she will definitely miss the people, students, and staff that she came in contact with on a daily basis. She will miss the interest that parents have with their students, and knowing just what to do to help.
“I’ll miss helping the parents,” she said. “I can always point them in the right direction.”
For the remaining semester of the school year, Ms. Dacia Mitchell will take over. Mitchell will be the permanent substitute for Mrs. Marsha Colbert as she will also be retiring at the end of the school year.
