Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have two of you? Someone who looks just like you, thinks the same thoughts as you, and is born on the same day. This is the life of twins. Sophomore Ryan and Rachel Shipton live this lifestyle on a daily basis. These two gave me the inside scoop on what it’s like to live a day in the life of a twin, because it can come with it’s ups and downs, but no matter what you’ll have a friend for life!
Q: What is an advantage and a disadvantage of being a twin?
Rachel: “ I always have someone to have my back.”
Ryan: “I have someone to blame things on, but she knows everything; blackmail.”
Q: What in school and or out of school activities are you involved in?
Rachel: “Bulldolls, and Planet Dance All-stars.”
Ryan: “I play soccer for New Albany, and Southern Indiana United Soccer.”
Q: Between the two of you, who is older, and how many minutes/seconds?
Rachel: “Ryan is older by eight minutes.”
Ryan: “I am by eight minutes.”
Q: Has there ever been a time where the both of you have ever felt, or said the same thing simultaneously?
Rachel: “Yes, if something happens at school, we’ll both tell my mom at the exact same time.”
Ryan: “When my grandpa died, my mom left to go to his house, so we got the tub of ice cream and laid on Rachel’s bed and watched TV, ate ice cream, and cried together.”
Q: What is one characteristic of your twin that you wish you had?
Rachel: “He has really good memorization and doesn’t have to study.”
Ryan: “Her flexibility so I can impress the ladies.”
Q: What is the biggest pet peeve of your twin?
Rachel: “If he’s in an unfamiliar place, he follows me around and relies on me to help him.”
Ryan: “She blasts Nikki Minaj in the morning and it wakes me up.”
Q: Is there a food that you both enjoy?
Rachel: “We both love Chinese! It’s so yummy!”
Ryan: “Chinese food.”
Q: What was the funniest outfit you both wore when you were younger?
Rachel: “Matching pumpkin costumes for Halloween.”
Ryan: “Probably those pumpkin Halloween costumes.”
Q: What is the best prank you’ve pulled on your twin?
Rachel: “One time, I put a for sale sign on Ryan’s car and made it fifty cents and tried to sell it at a yard sale.”
Ryan: “I tied our doors together so she couldn’t get out of her room.”
Q: Is there any household items that you two share?
Rachel: “Toothpaste.”
Ryan: “We don’t share.”
