Quentin Tarantino has done it yet again! After suffering mediocrity at best with Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained has struck gold for Tarantino.

Now this being a film directed by Tarantino, you should already expect three things, a bizarre plot, an odd assortment of music, and most importantly, gratuitous uncensored violence. Now an important warning, this isn’t a movie for your little siblings since Django is to the n-word as Scarface is to the f-bomb.
Now, even though Jamie Foxx is the lead character Django, hands-down the best actor goes to Christoph Waltz as Dr. King Schulz, a witty bounty hunter who saves Django from bondage. The brilliance of this character is shown when Schulz makes the utterly stupid Southerners look even more stupid. Another great character is Leonardo DiCaprio’s Calvin Candie character, who can go from calm to incredibly insane in half a second. Also, Samuel L. Jackson deserves recognition for playing the whitest black guy in this movie.
Oddly enough for a Tarantino flick, the story was made quite well, but in typical Tarantino fashion is set up in three sections. All of them catalogue the ventures of Django and Schulz on hunting down bounties, saving Django’s wife, and shooting every racist Mississippian along the way. All fits in perfectly and no part feels out of place in the entire film.
Lastly, the soundtrack is out of this world! Covering the necessary old western music, but then doing a full 180 and playing a Rick Ross song! But just like the story, all of it doesn’t seem out of the place but fits in perfectly.
I would highly recommend this movie to anyone honestly, I haven’t been impressed in a movie since seeing the Dark Knight Rises this year. It definitely is worth all the awards it is nominated for, but don’t just take my word for it, go see it for yourself now!

For me Django was an example of old school Tarantino. He never gave more bizzare plot twists or more confusing music. I love that he has his set of actors that he likes to work with and it is great that he used Christoph Waltz again. He is the reason I watched Water for Elephants, but it wasn’t the same.
