Youtube channels you should check out
By Dalton Martin
Ever catch yourself online and thought to yourself, man, I would really love to watch something humorous that actually has substance? If so, I have the perfect list of users and channels on Youtube to occupy your precious time:
CinemaSins
With the motto “No mov
ie is without sin,” a team of three is devoted to stating everything wrong with popular recent and older movies. Whether it is inconsistencies in the story, obvious impossibilities, or just plain annoying things, CinemaSins runs through an entire film and highlighting these “sins.” True to th
eir motto, they do not discriminate and are devoted to dissecting any film whether it is a classic like Titanic to obvious fodder like the Justin Bieber docu-concert movie.
Seananners
Adam Montoya, more commonly known by his screen name “Seananners” makes videos of himself playing videogames with other friends online. While normally a boring concept, Seananners and his merry band of players deliver comical one-liners and often-hilarious impersonations of the likes of Heath Ledger’s Joker character and Morgan Freeman that make the experience truly hilarious. Montoya is one of the best “Let’s Players”, as users under this particular genre are called, and should totally be worth a gander on your next visit to Youtube.
Sxephil (Phillip DeFranco)
Albeit not necessarily new, Phillip DeFranco, often referred by his fans as Philly D is one of the most followed users on Youtube and has been spreading his influence exponentially. Reknown for his self-titled Phillip DeFranco Show, which covers his humorous, yet mildly opinionated stance on national and global events. He’s much like a more contemporary version of Comedy Central’s John Stewart and Steven Colbert. He posts every Monday throughThursday and is always worth your time.
ForHumanPeoples
For all the wannabe graphic designers/uber-nerds out there, this one is for you. This channel hosts a themed weekly competition that allows viewers a chance to enter their own designs for a chance to be featured on t-shirts and phone cases on the ForHumanPeople’s website. While most of these themes are the likes of Harry Potter to Steam-punk Dinosaurs, this isn’t necessarily the big break an aspiring fashion designer needs but more or less of a way to get an awesome graphic design printed on t-shirt.
Cartoon Hangover
For all of the fans of Adventure Time, Cartoon Hangover is home Pendleton Ward’s second cartoon project Bravest Warriors, a more TV-14 show than his first breakout show, yet keeps most of the same elements that make Adventure Time such a hit on Cartoon Network. This channel also hosts other shows but mainly focuses on Warriors, the group’s flagship program.
