How to make your last few months worthwhile!

By Caden Wheat

The end of your senior year can be stress-filled and very busy, but be sure to make some time to make the most of it. Here’s some tips to make the end of your senior year GREAT!

Invest in people- At the end of your senior year, it’s important spend as much time as you can with the people that are important to you. This is essential especially if you are going away for school. Family and friends are a huge part of this category. Take your little brothers ice-skating, play with your cousins in the park, or have coffee with your grandma. Even just your acquaintances at school, spending a little more time with them will be the last chance you have before high school is over. Make the most of the people around you!

Fun times trump good sleep- Being a senior is exhausting! Being tired is like second nature to us, and sleeping ALWAYS sounds awesome; but don’t let this disease distract you. When you know of something fun going on and there’s atemptation to sleep instead, don’t fall into the trap! Say your friend calls you after school and asks you to go get ice cream, but you want to take an afternoon nap…Go get the ice cream! You will, more times than not, regret not having fun. Sleep is your enemy, man. You can sleep when you’re dead!

Take Pictures- The best Christmas present that I got this year was one of the new Polaroid camera. It’s super awesome and you get instant pictures. The camera catches moments that my phone can’t and pops right out. This is one thing that is so important for you last half, take pictures! Capture things like that time you ate 30 hot dogs at a bonfire, or the family wrestling match in your living room, whatever it may be! It can be on your phone or camera, either way document these moments!

Hometown goodies- If you are going away for a job or for school make sure you pick up all your hometown stuff. If there’s a special bakery or ice cream shop that you MUST go to before you leave, then hit it up. There aren’t going to be places that can suffice the goodness of Sweet Stuff or Wicks Pizza downtown. Go to all your hometown events too! Harvest homecoming and Thunder over Louisville are two festivals that you can’t miss.

Save the drama for your mama- DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN THINGS THAT DON’T MATTER! No one has time for that. If there is something that is bothering you, roll it off your shoulder, turn the other cheek. Drama is not worth your time. This year is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Don’t let petty little disputes get you down.

Be smart- All of these things are so fun and cause much excitement, but be smart about it. Don’t get it trouble your last half and ruin the rest of your time. Make good, smart decisions.

Be there- Above all else, be present. The one thing you will regret more than anything is not living in the moment. Don’t let your phone or pointless junk distract you from being in the moment. You want to remember this stuff. These are the best times of your life!
