A match-up for fans to remember

The Bulldogs game this past weekend was one to remember, as it was arguably the best game so far this season. Indianapolis Manual gave the former 4A state champions a fight. It was the loudest the Doghouse had been in a while.

“The gym was so loud,” sophomore Jacob Bratcher said. “Usually we are blowing teams out, but with this one being so close and followed overtime it was intense.”

Right off the bat the teams traded baskets for almost the entire first quarter. The separation came at the very end of the first as the Bulldogs were winning 14-12. Starting the second quarter the Bulldogs were still looking very strong, but the Indianapolis Manual Redskins refused to let up. They managed to outscore the Bulldogs in the second to take a 31-26 lead at the half.

The Redskins put their second quarter run together using physicality and their size to an advantage. It seemed to be working, so they went back to the paint over and over in the third. They again began to slowly wear down the Bulldogs defense. The Redskins outscored the Bulldogs 20-15 in the third. This put them up by 10 at the end of the third quarter, and win was looking out of reach for the Bulldogs.

Halfway through the the fourth the Bulldogs were still down by four. Sean East tied the game minutes later with a lay up. East also hit free throws to give the Bulldogs their first lead since the second quarter. With a minute left in regulation Romeo Langford tied the game.

The Bulldogs took over in the overtime period. They came out with a field goal one end and held the Redskins to a empty possession on the other. In transition Julien Hunter fired a pass to Langford for an and-one opportunity. The Bulldogs kept pushing until the lead was up to 8, and the Redskins decided they had enough. The Redskins cut it to a one possession game until East knocked down two from the free throw line.

Romeo Langford, Sean East, and Isaac Hibbard all had double digits in the Bulldogs win.
