Tyler’s Favorite Song : “Saved”

Matthew’s Favorite Song : “Cold Blooded”

New to the music industry, 19-year-old Khalid is jumping into the scene with his debut album,  American Teen.  This album was released on March 3, 2017 and was met with great praise from critics and radio fans. Khalid may be young, but he has proven that he has a true talent for pop and R&B.

Many of the songs on this album live up to it’s name by capturing the feeling of youth. Many of the synths on the tracks pop and have a smooth but hyped up vibe that carry you away. Songs such as “Saved” have a chill feeling, but keep you connected with the lyrics talking about the average breakup that every teen goes through. Other tracks “Young Dumb & Broke” tell a more happy story and keep an upbeat vibe to go with the lyrics. “Cold Blooded” is a calm and collected song that talks about love that is bad for you. Many of the songs on this album showcase how good Khalid’s voice is, although it is very different. For such a young person, it is remarkable that he has this much talent.

Khalid’s first attempt at an album was a success. The songs captured the feeling of being a teen, and feeling good. We give this album a 4.5 out of 5. Khalid shows a lot of promise, and we can’t wait to see what he does next. This album is available on iTunes and Spotify.
