Halloween themed cake pops

By Bret Walts

The tastiest treat in town, cake pops! You can do all kind of things with cake pops. In this case my mother made them to look like pumpkins, witches, ghosts and black cats.

Ingredients needed for Halloween Cake Pops:

1 box of cake mix (prepared according to package directions)

1/2 can of frosting

3 bags of candy melts

Bag of 8 inch lollipop sticks

Chocolate twizzlers

Chocholate chips

Candy Writer (to draw faces)

Dark chocolate kisses

Bake a cake (can be any flavor your heart desires)

After the cake is baked, crumble the cake as much as possible.

After crumbling the cake, add a half a can of icing to the crumbled cake

After that roll the cake mixture into small balls

After rolling about 35 cake balls put them in the freezer for 20 minutes (or refrigerator for 2 hours)

Melt 1 bag of candy melts

Dip end of lollipop stick into melts and stick 1/2 way into a cake ball

Let harden in freezer for 5 minutes

Dip entire cake ball into melts to cover the cake mixture

Add stem (chocholate twizzler) onto cake pop before it hardens

After dry, draw face with a candy writer

Put on chocolate chip ears and sprinkle for nose

Let dry, then draw on eyes with white candy writer

Shape cake ball into ghost shape

Draw on eyes/mouth with black candy writer

Hats – Seperate oreo cookie and use one side to use as the base of a hat

Add a hershey kiss to the “hat” and stick on with a little candy melt

Stick on hat, nose (candy sprinkle) and hair (chocolate twizzler) and let dry

Draw on eyes and mouth with candy writer
