Teams dropped from the rankings: Michigan, VCU, Memphis, New Mexico
Louisville – The Cardinals finished out a tough week with a poor performance against North Carolina. The Cardinals defeated unranked Fairfield by a smaller number than predicted and then lost to the Tar Heels by 9 points. North Carolina was Louisville’s first real test, and one of their only tough tests in non-conference games. They also play Kentucky at the end of December.
Indiana – Playing in the 2K Sports Classic the Hoosiers dominated Washington while scoring over 100 points for the third time this season. However, things changed when they faced #14 Connecticut. The Hoosier’s had virtually no production from their two star freshman Troy Williams and Noah Vonleh, although they remained competitive throughout the game. In the end, the Huskies narrowly defeated Indiana, even with the poor performance from the Hoosiers.
Oklahoma State – The Cowboys proved to be an elite team by destroying a ranked Memphis Tigers team this past week. Oklahoma State led by more than 30 points at one point and eventually defeated the Tiger 101-80.
Michigan – The Wolverines dropped their second game of the season. In fact, both of Michigan’s losses came to unranked teams at the time. This week, Michigan lost to Charlotte on a buzzer beater in the championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The Wolverines are now 4-2 on the season, and their only salvation to the start of this season is their good overtime win against Florida State. Had they not pulled that game out, the Wolverines would be 3-3 and well on their way out of the Top 25 and elite discussion.
