Welcome to a preview of the best sneaker releases of the week. In this column, a picture will be provided of the releasing shoe, along with the date, price tag, where to buy, and a brief description and backstory of the shoe.
This week, Adidas is the major brand that trumps all. Three stripes is releasing 20+ pairs of shoes this week, but the comeback of the ‘Copper’ Foamposites with an icy twist takes the crown as most anticipated.
Copper Foamposite One // April 20 // $230
The “Heaven Cent” colorway of the Nike Air Foamposite One is back, much to the delight of fans of the shoe everywhere. Easily one of the best colorways for Penny Hardaway’s shoe ever, the penny-colored Foams are back for the first time ever since they originally released in 2010. The clear sole on the original has been switched out for a icy sole for this release. Seven years later, the Air Foamposite One “Copper” will be looking just as good as ever when they dropped April 20 at select Nike Sportswear retailers everywhere, including Rock City Kicks, Foot Locker, and others.

Air Jordan 5 Pure Platinum // April 22 // $400
This version of the Jordan 5 Premium will release in a new Pure Platinum colorway featuring elevated materials like a woven leather side panel instead of the usual mesh insert, an updated ‘Flight’ tongue tag, and raised Jumpman branding on the tongue. We’ve seen this look before in a military-inspired release earlier in the year, known as the Jordan 5 “Take Flight”, priced at $400. The use of new materials on this pair might change buyers opinion on copping. The $400 price might also scare some off, but don’t sleep on the clean look provided by this pair. Available at select Jordan retailers.
